There is a fairly recent program out there that lets you have similar effects that most Linux users enjoy today. It is called by its users as the cube effect, and is used to have multiple desktops. What i mean is that you have 1 desktop, and it switches to 6 other ones. What this means is more screen space. The program i am going to talk about costs money, but there are many similar free ones. This program is called Desk Space.

Now let me explain how it works. Ie: This is not how it appears. What happens is that you have 1 essential desktop. When you switch screens all of the programs that are running will minimize into the desk space icon, on the lower right hand corner of your screen if installed. If you click on the icon you will see a list of the programs that you have currently running on other screens. So basically what you are doing is minimizing into the icon and not the task bar. Its that simple.

I find this program to be very useful. I will have all of my instant messengers on one screen. Have all of my work on another screen, and then have all of the fun stuff like games, Facebook, etc. I definitely 100% recommend this program, or one that is similar which may be free to use. Deskspace comes with a 14 day trial. So try it out by going to http://zooltechnology.com. Very interesting program

Review on Ustream.tv

March 17, 2008

I have been using Ustream.tv for about 5 or 6 months now, and i have honestly had no “Major” Problems with it. There have been a few service glitches that i think could be fixed but other than that it has been fine. So i decided to write a quick little review on it:1- Ease of access. I really do enjoy the control centre. It gives you easy access to your viewers and also gives you full control over your show. Weather it is how good your sound quality is, to having the ability to control your chat room. I do on the other hand think it would be a better idea to have a down-loadable program and broadcast your show from there, instead of going to the website every time to open it. I think it would just be easier to have the ability to open it from your own desktop.

2- The ability to record videos. I don’t know what else to say other than i love the fact that you are able to record videos download them, and then post them to Youtube. This is great for small business that are trying to get bigger. It takes absolutely no time to save the video and you can do as many of them as you can imagine.

3- The ability to embed your show. Although Ustream would probably prefer that you go to their website to watch the show, they do give you the option to embed the show to your own website, Facebook, etc. This is very good. It gives the viewers a central location to watch your show, and gives them the ability to watch your show and chat at the same time. I have found this very useful on my website http://www.live.bradwelltv.com. Where i broadcast all the time.

Those are essentially the three basic components that make Ustream a great program and website to broadcast through video and also through audio. Don’t forget to go to mine at live.bradwelltv.com

Thanks
